Martin Luther King Jr., January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968
I remember this evening 50 years ago so well. I was seven years old. I had heard the name Martin Luther King many times and when I heard he had been assassinated I knew it wasn’t a good thing even though I wasn’t really sure what he was famous for. A couple months later I got on the bus to school one morning and heard Robert Kennedy had been shot the night before. I knew who he was- President Kennedy’s brother who was running for POTUS. 1968 was one of those nightmare years in American history.
